FOOD PYRAMID REPLACED WITH A PLATE

The Agriculture Department unveiled "My Plate" on Thursday, abandoning the food pyramid.

This Might actually work!  Its simple clear cut and easy to understand.  Gone are the old pyramid's references to sugars, fats or oils. What was once a category called "meat and beans" is now simply "proteins," making way for seafood and vegetarian options like tofu.

Even though the plate is divided into four different-sized sections, the servings don't have to be proportional. Every person has different nutritional needs, based on age, health and other factors.

Many nutritionists and nutrition groups praised the new effort, crossing their fingers that people will listen.  I myself think vegetables dominating the plate is a great leap foward toward overal public health.

What do you think?
