Are You TechnoHealthy?

October is National Chiropractic Health Month!

This year’s activities focus on how chiropractic care can help prevent and treat the repetitive stress injuries associated with the improper use of handheld technology. This year’s NCHM is designed to help enable DCs to reach out to their patients and communities and help to raise awareness about a technohealthy lifestyle.

Modern technology such as smart phones and texting is bringing people together in new ways…but it also has the potential to take a toll on our bodies and our health.

This year for National Chiropractic Health Month  ACA (American Chiropractic Association) asks chiropractic patients and the public the question, “Are you TechnoHealthy?”

As experts in ergonomics, doctors of chiropractic can help their patients use technology safely, avoiding unnecessary injury and strain, or treat the aches and pains that may already exist. Being TechnoHealthy also means knowing when to unplug and reconnect with the world around you through exercise and other wellness activities.

Some common injuries to patients are tech neck, blackberry thumb, carpel tunnel syndrome and poor egonomincs leading to poor posture.  Prolonged inactivity mixed with poor posture is a sure way of hurting your spine and compressing the nerves exiting your back.
